There have been a lot of changes in repayment since the last time student borrowers had to think about it - it's been three years of changes and waiting! With staffing shortages, regulatory issues and training, it is difficult to keep up, especially when servicer incentive changes have occurred and borrowers will be joining repayment simultaneously. As a result, the lines for assistance - whether physically or virtually - may be longer than ever.

The 2008 book “Nudge” reinvented the way we view behavioral finance, with Spock and Homer Simpson as our perfect case studies. Now, we’re back to take another look at the science of human behavior and how we can help students make optimal decisions and take actions, in a time of doing more with less.

Based on the updated “Nudge: The Final Edition,” this session provides insight into creating effective messages that inspire students to take action. We’ll review nudge theory basics, including ethics and implications, while incorporating new findings from the authors’ works. And, of course, we’ll discuss how nudges can work with your students. Don’t miss out on this fun and informative session!

As financial educators, we know the link between emotions and money, and often have to play the role of unofficial therapist; hey, there’s a reason behavioral therapy is a thing! As such, we may use positive tactics to encourage and motivate those we serve. But what if this approach is doing more harm than good?

What if we could deepen our conversations by embracing the suck, while also helping others better understand how to achieve and maintain happiness as part of holistic financial wellness?

Inceptia continues our behavioral science dive with a new look at how to be happy – but also, why being happy is not always the right response in building financial health.

In this session, we’ll talk through the benefits of feeling ALL the feels and how to find peace and
balance through:

  • Applying behavioral science theory to maximize happiness
  • Learning to identify toxic positivity – and just say no!

Back by popular demand, we continue our behavioral science dive with a new look at how to be happy – but also, why being happy is not always the right response.

At a time when we are all overwhelmed and maybe even burned out (ahem, the Great Resignation?), the focus on finding happiness is more relevant than ever before. Yet, we may find ourselves chasing joy, only to have it quickly fade once we reach our goal. Why is that?

Or, sometimes, you just want to feel down and it seems like the whole world wants a parade. Why are we so afraid of sadness, and how can a relentlessly sunny disposition actually be bad for you?

In this webinar replay, we’ll talk through these ideas and how to find peace and balance through:
  • Applying behavioral science theory to maximize happiness
  • Learning to identify toxic positivity – and just say no!

Did you know that in America, women make $.82 for every dollar that a man makes? For BIPOCwomen, those amounts are even less, with Latina women experiencing the largest wage disparity at $.55 to every dollar.

The pandemic has further compounded the issue, with women disproportionately impacted by job loss that resulted in $800 billion in lost income.

So what can we do about it?

This session will explore the root causes of the gender wage gap, the downstream effects on society and our economy, and how we can educate ALL students to take action to combat gender disparity.
