Back by popular demand, we continue our behavioral science dive with a new look at how to be happy – but also, why being happy is not always the right response.

At a time when we are all overwhelmed and maybe even burned out (ahem, the Great Resignation?), the focus on finding happiness is more relevant than ever before. Yet, we may find ourselves chasing joy, only to have it quickly fade once we reach our goal. Why is that?

Or, sometimes, you just want to feel down and it seems like the whole world wants a parade. Why are we so afraid of sadness, and how can a relentlessly sunny disposition actually be bad for you?

In this webinar replay, we’ll talk through these ideas and how to find peace and balance through:
  • Applying behavioral science theory to maximize happiness
  • Learning to identify toxic positivity – and just say no!

Recorded on: Wednesday, March 30, 2022
Duration: One Hour
Cost: FREE
Speaker: Carissa Uhlman

Did you know that in America, women make $.82 for every dollar that a man makes? For BIPOCwomen, those amounts are even less, with Latina women experiencing the largest wage disparity at $.55 to every dollar.

The pandemic has further compounded the issue, with women disproportionately impacted by job loss that resulted in $800 billion in lost income.

So what can we do about it?

This session will explore the root causes of the gender wage gap, the downstream effects on society and our economy, and how we can educate ALL students to take action to combat gender disparity.

Spoiler alert: we are all spending much more time online than ever before, even conducting work that was previously believed to only be effective when done face-to-face. While technology and the internet have made the impossible possible, there is also a danger for all of us – but especially students – to subconsciously consume negative messaging.

In a social media world that prizes bigger, better, prettier and more popular, the fear of missing out (FOMO) is wreaking havoc on mental, emotional, AND financial wellbeing.

In this session, we’ll discuss the very real consequences of FOMO, the effects of social media on spending and saving, and how we can inform and empower students to resist.
